About Us
Kinara Bookstore is a Black woman-owned, independent bookstore in Tulsa, Oklahoma that focuses on marginalized authors and stories.
Our mission is to help readers gain perspective, feel seen, and stay inspired by offering a diverse selection of books across all genres that celebrate people from various backgrounds.
We strive to be a consistent community resource that expands access to inclusive literature.
Who We Are
-
In October 2025, Tulsa’s only Black owned bookstore closed their doors, and the community lost access to stories that reflect its people. Shortly after, Kinara Bookstore was founded to fill in the gap and ensure that resource didn’t disappear.
-
Our current pop-up model meets people where they already gather — art crawls, festivals, coffee shops, and local events — so books and conversation can be part of everyday life, not something people have to “find time” for. We strive to build a platform that celebrates marginalized authors and stories in a way that’s accessible and community-centered.
